Quoi de neuf ?
There has been a fair amount of activity inside and outside of the French classrooms in Te Whanganui-a-Tara. Some of our students, from Onslow College and Newlands College, had the opportunity to travel to New Caledonia, our closest French-speaking neighbour in the Pacific, where they were fortunate to experience its food, laidback lifestyle, dreamy landscapes and mixed cultures.
In other schools, such as Hutt International Boys’ School, students have stayed local, but have nonetheless taken advantage of learning opportunities during Languages Week, with raclette parties, cheese tastings, New Caledonian art workshops, a few rounds of pétanque, and French Immersion activities with other schools.
Schools on the Kāpiti Coast, such as Paraparaumu College and Kāpiti College, are also spending quality time with other learners of French in their zone. They have an upcoming pétanque competition, where students will have the chance to showcase not only their precision but also their style when throwing!
